Lucian of Samosata (ca. 125–ca. 185 CE) was a rhetorician, pamphleteer, and satirist. He was born in Samosata (modern Türkiye) and is believed to have died in Egypt. Over eighty extant works, including satires, dialogues, and a partial novel (True History), are attributed to Lucian.
