Mark A. Norell (1957-2025) was Division Chair and Macaulay Curator, Curator-in-Charge of Fossil Amphibians, Reptiles, and Birds, Division of Paleontology at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. One of the most respected living paleontologists, Norell was a professor at Richard Gilder Graduate School,  held faculty appointments in the Department of Biology at Yale University, and taught at Columbia University and the City University of New York.
