Rocke is Distinguished University Professor and Henry Eldridge Bourne Professor Emeritus at Case Western Reserve University and the author of several books, including Nationalizing Science: Adolphe Wurtz and the Battle for French Chemistry and Image and Reality: Kekulé, Kopp, and the Scientific Imagination, the latter also published by the University of Chicago Press.
