This book, published on the occasion of an exhibition on view at the Neubauer Collegium in the winter of 2026, is a heartfelt homage to the pleasures of making one’s mark, paintbrush and palette in hand. Eight large-scale paintings by the Norwegian artist Fredrik Værslev, each representing a distinct body of work and conceived as an exercise in geometric abstraction, showcase Værslev’s systematic interrogation of abstract art as well as the many methods through which abstraction can be produced.
